Outfits For Spring

Yesterday was the first day of spring. Spring is my favourite season cause its not too cold and not too hot, the perfect balance.  When I think of spring I think of flowers, Melbourne Cup, butterflies, weddings and radiant sunshine.  It’s a busy time on the social calendar with the races, weddings, formals, birthdays (does anybody else have a lot of birthdays coming up?) or for a night out and I’ve found the perfect outfit that will make you stand out from the crowd.

I browsed three stores that I know and love to find these outfits from Myer, Review and Forever New.  Here are the outfits from Myer:

Watercolour Floral Bella Dress by Charlie Brown – $199

If spring was not a season but a dress it would be this dress.  The colours and floral print scream ‘spring’. I know a lot of people who prefer strapless dresses, I love the print and the style of this dress.  The bow is a cute finishing touch and ends just above the knee.  This dress is suitable to wear to the races, school formal or to a wedding.

Stripe Splice Fitted Dress by Jane Lamerton – $159

One of my very first work tops was by Jane Lamerton so, you could say we go way back. I love stripes and geometric shapes which is a trend at the moment so no surprise I love this dress.  The splash of green gives it that spring, calming feel.  You can wear this to a corporate function, christening or for a nice dinner.

Indigo Jumpsuit by Seduce – $239.95

For all the ladies who love jumpsuits this one is for you.  I love navy, I love the detail of this jumpsuit and it’s different from others I have seen before.  It’s sleek, chic and sophisticated.  You could wear this jumpsuit to a corporate function or wedding, literally anywhere as it’s versatile.

Here are my picks from Review.

Rouge Poppy Dress – $289.99

This vintage style dress is definitely one you could wear at the races.  With a beautiful floral pattern and a splash of red, what a great bright colour.  If you want to show off your curves this dress is for you.  You could wear it to just about any event.

re16dr108_remul001_1_1

Margarita Dress – $289.99

I love the name of this dress.  Yes it’s another navy dress but I couldn’t help myself.  This strapless dress is timeless and feminine with the lace detail and swish skirt.  Any girl going to the formal would look beautiful in this dress but you could wear it to any special event.

re16dr047_renvy001_1_2

Catalina Dress – $279.99

This is the last floral dress I promise but it is spring after all.  Navy and white is such a classic combination and adding the little green detail is just divine. This dress isn’t as formal so you could probably get more wear out of it as you can dress it up or down.

re16dr090_remul001_1_3

The below dresses are from Forever New – If you hate colour and prefer black the next two dresses are for you.

Phillipa V-neck Lace Swing Dress – $159.99

I’ve added a couple of black dresses because black is a classic, an old favourite for some but essential for any woman’s wardrobe.  I love a v neckline and I can’t go past lace I love it.  It is similar to the Margarita dress but it has a small sleeve.  You have so many options of what colour shoes you can wear with black which makes life just that little bit easier.

23164601

Avery Cross Front High-Low Maxi Dress  – $99.99

For those of you who have beautiful long legs (I’m so jealous and I hate you ) this dress is for you.  I like this style of dress.  I like the sheer bottom, the belt that adds some class and gives you a more defined waistline and the v neckline. This dress was made to attend a party and with you in it.

If you purchase any of the above, I would love to see a picture of you wearing it, just tag notsopeachie #notsopeachie.

So readers, do you love spring? Do you have a lot of events on in the next three months? Do you love bright colours and floral print as much as I do?

Necklace Inspiration

My cousin Radha purchased three necklaces and asked me if I could tell her what to wear with each of them.  My mum asks me the same question every time she buys a necklace too so I thought why not do a post on it!

Accessorising is my favourite part of getting dressed.  I can’t leave my house without wearing jewelry and not feel naked.  For me jewelry completes an outfit and makes not only a plain outfit brighter but it has that effect to make us sparkle just that little bit brighter.  On Monday’s I need all the sparkle I can get!

A necklace is the perfect accessory to wear in the warmer seasons just like a scarf is in the cooler seasons.  Whether you’re a t-shirt and shorts girl or live in dresses in summer there is a necklace you probably already own which would compliment your outfit.

Go Long – With any high neck, turtle or scoop neckline.  A long necklace adds character to any plain top.  Or chose a simple less detailed long necklace for a more sleek professional look for work.  This necklace was a gift.

Make A Statement – Don’t be afraid to make a statement.  Whether you’re wearing a high neckline, scoop neckline or turtle neck.  If you like wearing turtle necks but think it makes your chest look too big if you wear a statement necklace it breaks it up.  This necklace is from ASOS.

Don’t Settle For One – Why not try layering?  You can wear two or three it doesn’t matter as long as they are different lengths.  If you’re wearing a v neckline and want to take your cleavage out of the firing line I think this is a good way of splitting the focus.  The Love necklace is from Michael Hill and the heart necklace is from Tiffany.

Go Cheerful – This necklace from mondayproject_ screams fun! The balls are the right size to be seen without getting lost.  This necklace comes in many wonderful colours and if your on Instagram you can purchase one from mondayproject_.  Support Australian businesses.

Shine Bright Like A Diamond – This tunic was looking quite dull till I added this piece.  You might think there is already a lot going on with the tunic; collar and pockets but this piece adds the shine factor.  Blush & Co is another Australian company that makes beautiful necklaces, you will want to purchase them all.

So readers, who loves wearing necklaces? What style of necklace do you like?

My Spring/Summer Shoe Picks

I mentioned on Monday’s post (Maid of honour..I got this!) this week that, I won’t be buying anymore clothes till I drop a size. My friends might think I may compensate by buying shoes – this simply won’t be the case.  I’m going to be buying shoes instead as there are so many spring/summer shoes out right now, that I’m in love with!  To get straight to the point, last weekend I looked at my shoe stand which only holds 30 pairs of shoes out of my shoe collection and I nearly threw them all away.  I still have a strong desire to declutter my shoes away, in order to make room for new shoe therapy purchases (featured in this post).
As the weather gets warmer, we are seeing a lot of pastels, neutrals and floral prints in the shops.  Whether you are strutting your stuff in 70’s style in suede or denim or wearing a floral maxi dress, I have a pair of shoes for you from three of my favourite shoe stores and they won’t break the bank.

Must Have Trans-seasonal Piece

Can you believe July is nearly over! We are more than halfway through the year how scary is that!!  On the bright side for everyone who is over this cold weather there is only one more month of winter to go!

The period in between when the weather isn’t freezing but not yet hot enough for shorts and singlets can be a wardrobe challenge.  This is why I purchased a sleeveless vest.  It’s such a great trans-seasonal item.  I’m going to share what to wear it with to get your monies worth.

Sleeveless vests are right on trend at the moment and are in shops everywhere but I’m going to share my recent purchase because I’m in love with it.

I found Billy j. on Instagram, this is why I love Instagram it’s so easy to find great shops I, otherwise wouldn’t have known about.  They have $5 express shipping and free shipping on orders over $75. I received my order the next day which really impressed me and made me very happy.

This beautiful vest I’m wearing is called the Pursuit Vest, it’s 65% cotton, 35% polyester.  It’s so light and comfortable to wear and perfect to throw over a jumper without feeling heavy or bulky.  It does come in a couple of other colour options but I’m personally loving grey this season.  I can hear my mum in my head saying “What colour’s would you wear with grey besides black?”  I love grey and white, pink and grey and also navy and grey together.

It’s really easy to stick to what we have always done in the past but don’t be afraid to try something new.  If you’ve never worn a long sleeveless vest before now is your time too.  As it’s so light and comfortable to wear and while the weather is still cold you can wear it over a long sleeve top or jumper like I have.  As it gets warmer you can wear it over a t-shirt with jeans or shorts.  Personally I’m looking forward to wearing it to an event over a sleeveless knitted dress with heels once it gets warm enough.  You can purchase this great versatile piece from Billy j. for only $54 http://billyj.com.au/collections/best-sellers/products/pursuit-vest-grey.  I’m wearing a Large.

I have to mention the gorgeous knit I’m wearing known as Daylight Knit that is also from Billy j.  I love knits but I have a habit of pulling a thread within minutes of wearing them and this is why this one is great, it’s made from acrylic, it’s durable and comfortable.  It has a sexy split down both sides as well.  It is currently on sale for only $47.20 http://billyj.com.au/collections/winter/products/daylight-knit.  I’m wearing a size 12.

Dear readers, what do you think of this sleeveless vest? Do you own one or are thinking of purchasing one?

One Shirt + One Jumper = Three Outfits

Back in the 90’s, I remember watching this commercial for Tim Tams as a kid.  You might remember it, a lady rubs a lamp and a genie appears and grants her three wishes.  Her third and final wish was a never ending packet of Tim Tams.  If a genie ever came to me and I was granted a wish I would ask for a never ending wardrobe but until that happens, I have to learn how to get the most out of my wardrobe.

Two items that everyone has in their wardrobe is a white shirt and a jumper. I love jumpers! I could live in them for the entire duration of winter so, it gives me more of an incentive to mix it up sometimes. I love throwing a jumper on over a shirt I just think it looks so sleek, sophisticated and adds another layer to your outfit. Visually it looks like you’ve made a greater effort than what you actually have.

The shirt and jumper I’m wearing are from two companies I love.  This shirt is by Atmos & Here exclusive to The Iconic. I own a few Atmos & Here items because not only are the clothes nice but it’s also really affordable .  I loveee The Iconic, nothing makes my heart skip a beat like fast delivery and a website I can easily navigate around.  The shirt I’m wearing you can no longer find on The Iconic but there is a very similar one by Atmos & Here called ‘Hampton Summer Shirt’, it’s on sale for only $29.97

http://www.theiconic.com.au/Hampton-Summer-Shirt-199448.html

The jumper is from a company I’ve only recently discovered I like which surprised me because I didn’t expect to find anything I like, Mix Apparel.  They have free shipping on orders over $50 and their website is also easy to navigate around.  I’m wearing the ‘Hi-Lo Cable Jumper’ in grey, they don’t have many left. Their on sale at the moment for only $19 how good is that?

Style One: This look is all about being comfortable and casual without looking like a dag.  Great for shopping, catching up with friends, school drop offs and for casual Fridays.  I love jeans and Converse together.  The great thing is this look won’t break the bank because everyone owns a pair of jeans and sneakers and if you don’t own sneakers you can wear flats instead.

Processed with VSCOcam with s2 preset

Style Two: I wore this outfit to Friday night drinks.  The pleather pants were on sale for $4.95 from the new Forever 21 store that has just opened on Pitt Street in Sydney.  So comfortable and sliming.  Its been so cold in Sydney lately so I chose to wear my new leather Django and Juliette boots with a small heel instead of wearing open toe lace up monochrome sandals which look amazing with this outfit.  I chose whatever is warmer in winter, I think this might be a sign of getting older.

photo 1

Style Three:  Off to work! Trousers and the same boots I wore in Style Two.  Just like everyone owns a pair of jeans and tights, if you work in a corporate environment you would also own a pair of black pants.

One shirt, one jumper three outfits.

So readers which style is your favourite? Have you shopped at The Iconic or Mix Apparel?

My Favourite Things – Ladies Some TLC

I know you will all agree with me when I say everyone needs some TLC every once in a while and why not we deserve it!

Nothing screams TLC more than going to a day spa.  The first time I went to Endota Spa it was a few years ago with a friend and I still remember how revitalized I felt walking out of there.  The therapist who did my massage and facial was beyond amazing I wanted to befriend her.  The next time I went back to Endota Spa at The Rocks for a facial I was pleased that my new therapist lived up to my previous therapist.  I still can’t fault their service they have always been friendly and professional.  Before and after your treatment they give you an option of water or organic tea, go for the tea I think it compliments the whole experience.

They offer a wide range of treatments, facials, massages and spa packages so whether you are in need of an organic facial, pedicure, body scrub or a relaxation massage they have got you covered.  They do group packages as well so if you want to get the girls together it’s TLC at its best!

Now that we are glowing and feeling revitalized why not get our makeup done.  I forgot how wonderful it feels to have somebody do your makeup especially when it’s done by talented makeup artists like the makeup artists who work at Napoleon Perdis.  I recently had my makeup done for a wedding I went too, I thought why not I didn’t buy a new dress or new shoes and I needed to buy concealer so I might as well get my makeup done.  I’m so glad I made that decision because it really did boost the confidence.  I had never worn fake eyelashes before and it was fun because I felt like I was a kid playing dress ups.

If you have an occasion coming up why not book yourself in to get your makeup done.  We should treat ourselves sometimes.

What do you do when you need some TLC?

My Favourite Things – On A Budget9f917-australiancurrency

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens;
Bright copper kettles and warm woollen mittens;
Brown paper packages tied up with strings;

These are a few of my favourite things.

My favourite things is back! We all love a great buy especially if it doesn’t hurt the wallet.  Here are my favourite things that will save you money.

I didn’t want to take my $80 foundation to Fiji because when I went to Hayman Island some of my makeup didn’t do too well in that heat.  I went into Gloss Accessories and saw BYS foundation for $10 and thought it was perfect for me to take away.  It doesn’t have sunscreen or moisturizing cream in it but if you already have moisturizer and sunscreen you can apply them first.  It does give full coverage and my skin doesn’t have a reaction to it.  I’ve been using this foundation for over a year now and for $10 you have nothing to loose what a bargain! To check out Gloss click here.

Just like any female I love shoes.  A few years ago I would have never bought shoes from Kmart but a couple of years ago I found myself in Kmart and I happen to see black suede wedge boots for $25.  I thought they would be perfect for work and if they fall apart after the first wear it doesn’t matter because they were only $25.  To my surprise they didn’t fall apart and I still have them.  Last year I wanted a pair of brown boots so I thought I would try my luck again at Kmart and I found these (above) for $25.  I am now a fan of Kmart shoes especially their boots.  So check out what they have in store here.

I work in a corporate environment and I love corporate clothing but it’s so expensive.  I like to have variety in my wardrobe because I don’t like wearing the same clothes every day but at $200 a dress it really did hurt the credit card till I found Tokito.  Tokito is a brand exclusive to Myer, I bought my first piece from Tokito a few years ago and every time I go into Myer I can’t help but check to see what they have.  This dress I love, it’s called Jacquared cap sleeve and it’s only $89.95.  If you look out for sales at Myer and go shopping when there’s a sale that’s even better. I haven’t had any issues with the quality of their clothing either.  To check out what Tokito currently has in Myer click here.

* Nothing on this post has been sponsored I just like these products.

Do you have favourite products you use that won’t hurt your credit card?

My Favourite Things

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens;
Bright copper kettles and warm woollen mittens;

Brown paper packages tied up with strings;

These are a few of my favourite things.

I always tell people if one day I have my own TV show I would have a favourite things episode like Ellen’s 10 Days of Giveaway where I would give away my favourite things to everyone in the audience and I would invite everyone.  I’m a dreamer but I’m also a shopaholic.  My friend at work jokes that she has never met anyone who receives more packages than I do.
I like sharing where I have bought things from that I love and recommend and this is how I came up with the idea of doing a favourite things post where I share some of my latest purchases that I’m in love with.
Anyone who knows me will tell you I love jewellery, it’s my favourite accessory.  I have an obscene amount of jewellery but I can’t stop adding to my collection.  In particular earrings, I can’t leave my house without wearing earrings I feel naked if I don’t have any on.  Anything that sparkles is a bonus in my opinion so no surprise that I bought this pair of earrings from Swarovski.  I already have a few pieces from Swarovski and I’m  happy to be able to add another to my collection.  This earring is called Lunar and I believe they call this light purple colour Cry Blush.  I am into rose gold currently which is why I chose rose gold over the yellow or silver metal, the crystal comes in other colour’s besides this purple.  I love how they are versatile, you can wear them to the office to brighten up your outfit or wear them out for dinner.  They are $130 and to find out more about Swarovski, or where your nearest store is or to shop online you can click here.
With winter soon approaching candles around the house are a must.  There are so many different candle companies these days it is quite overwhelming.  This Glasshouse candle was given to me as a present recently I have never owned a Glasshouse candle prior but I have seen them around in retail shops.  This sexy looking candle is called Manhattan Little Black Dress and it smells divine.  This candle is 350g but you can get ones smaller and there are many other exciting scents I want to get like coconut lime, vanilla caramel and jasmine blossoms.  These candles are made in Australia and are in retail shops like Peter Alexander or you can shop online here.
Do you also suffer from frizzy hair? I have just the thing, Redken’s anti-frizz polishing milk.  You just put a little bit into your hair while it is still damp from the shower and it reduces the frizz and leaves your hair shiny and smooth.  I’ve been using this now for a few months and my best friend who is a hairdresser even noticed the difference when I started using it.  I went onto the Redken website to find where you can buy it from as I bought mine from an online sale.  The bottle is now black instead of white and it shows the saloons you can buy it from, click here to find the nearest saloon to you.

Until next time on My Favourite Things happy shopping!

Music Festival Goers Fashion Style

“Elegance is not the prerogative of those who have just escaped from adolescence, but of those who have already taken possession of their future.” – Coco Chanel

I’m not a stylist or clothes designer but I like to think I have a little style and something has to be said about what people wear at music festivals.  I went to a music festival Saturday night, it was the first one I had been to in maybe two years.  I think they have changed the terms and conditions of entry since the last time I went to YOU MUST ONLY COVER 20% OF YOUR BODY.

It was 20 degrees and all the girls and I really do mean ALL the girls were wearing really tight short shorts, some of the girl’s butts were covered like in the above pictures but other butts were on show and to accompany their short shorts they wore mid drift tops.  I saw girls in high heels wearing professional looking makeup in dresses so short and tight they couldn’t move in them.  As not much of their bodies were covered I also saw their cellulite. Everyone has cellulite but I like to cover mine up with the exception of when I’m at the beach.  If today’s generation are more confident in their skin I think that’s a great thing.  Would it be too much to ask though if they could add a little bit more material to their outfit?

I know this is a bit off the topic but why do so many guys and girls at music festivals go into the portable loo’s with their drinks? I saw so many people coming out of the loo’s holding their drink, why wouldn’t you get your friend to hold it or finish it before you go in?

So what do you think about the fashion style at music festivals, short shorts and people taking their drinks into the portable loo’s?

They’re Hot, Have Wings and Know a Secret

This morning on my way to work
 I’m listening to Have Yourself A Merry
 Little Christmas by Kelly Clarkson from her album Wrapped in Red

“Beauty is nothing without  strength” – Adriana Lima

 This week aired the 18th annual Victoria Secret Fashion show and just like the previous years it did not disappoint.

I remember watching my first VS fashion show, I was a teenager and I was flipping through the television channels and I stumbled across it.  My first thought was who are these ladies and what planet do they come from? My second thought was I wonder where I can buy those wings from?
 My friends and I had our own favourite VS model and mine was Adriana Lima.  She is my girl crush, not only is she amazingly beautiful but when she is on that stage she just owns it.  I couldn’t imagine her being a clumsy person who spills coffee on herself on her way to work like I do regularly.

I remember the first time I went into a VS store in LA, I was like a child in a candy store.  I think I literally bought one of everything in that store; from plain to patterned panties, cotton bras to push up lacy bras, pyjamas, body lotion, make up bag, singlet tops and shorts. I walked out of that store carrying six bags of stuff with the attitude that I was the new VS angel in town!

When I got back home to Sydney I was so excited to try on all my new stuff.  I put on my Love Spell body lotion and sprayed the perfume, decided to wear my favourite thing that I bought which was a matching black lace bra and panties with a Swarovski crystal on it.

When I looked in the mirror my reflection however didn’t look anything like Adriana Lima or any of the other VS models and it’s in moments like these when I think someone really needs to invent a mirror that photoshop’s your reflection.
