What I Wore To Work: Atmos&Here

I was meant to post this my first week back to work but I’ve been missing in action organising my friend’s hen’s celebration which was on the weekend.  On a side note, organising an event is stressful right? I’ve been dying to show you this dress for a while now and I hope you love it as much as I do.

What to wear to work Atmos and Here

I love the brand Atmos&Here.  I’m always guaranteed to find something I love by Atmos&Here on The Iconic website… every single time!

I haven’t bought much work attire in a long time so, my outfits for work are looking pretty average. I didn’t want to start work in the New Year wearing something quite ordinary to only end up feeling quite ordinary by the end of my first day back.  You want to feel confident at work and when you love what you’re wearing, you feel great and your confidence shines through.

The Collette Jersey Wrap Dress is versatile, you’re not just limited to wearing it to work, it doubles as a weekeend dress.  I’m short, curvy and this style of dress compliments my figure.  A V neck gives the illusion of a longer neck than what I actually do and it’s also good for the bust area.

I love the monochrome pattern and how comfortable it is especially in the warm weather.

So readers, what do you think of my new dress? Have you bought anything from Atmos&Here before?

Exercising And Looking Good While Doing It

Let me start off by saying I’ve never been a big fan of exercising. I’ve tried different forms of exercising from kickboxing to Zumba, pole dancing to jogging but have never found anything I’ve stuck with longer than two years. There’s also the sweating factor and my hair getting dirty and that’s just an inconvenience.

I got a big surprise when I had a blood test to find my cholesterol was a bit too high. It wasn’t high enough to be of great concern about but my doctor recommended for me to cut out the bad food and to start exercising. I’m only 28, I didn’t think I would have to worry about health issues like cholesterol till I was at least 50. Since I don’t like exercise and am very lazy, I found it hard to come up with an exercise plan I was going to stick too. I procrastinated and did nothing for a few months till I went bridesmaid dress shopping. I was aware I had put on weight as I don’t weigh myself but my clothes had become tight to the point I could no longer wear some of them. It’s such an awful feeling when you want to wear something and it doesn’t fit. So there I am, sitting on the lounge in the change room that’s bigger than my bedroom. In one hand is a glass of champagne and in the other the ten dresses that couldn’t zip up. As horrible as it felt it was the kick in the butt I needed.

I had this tutor in year 12 who tried ever so hard to get me to study. He suggested I buy a new desk lamp or stationery something that would entice me to sit at my desk. So if you haven’t already guessed what I bought to motivate me to exercise I bought new gym clothes!

I discovered Elsa Active on Instagram and I fell in love with all the colourful patterned active wear. There is something about patterns and colours that just makes me happy.

CHANTELLE 14

Wearing the Ambra Short Sleeve Top in medium by Abi and Joseph. It comes in a range of colours. The material is gorgeous and so comfortable to wear.

The Dreamcatcher 7/8 tights are full length on me because I’m so short but this doesn’t bother me at all because I love the feel and the shape they give me. These are also by Abi and Joseph, wearing medium.

This year I will be ready for summer and I’ll be doing it in style.

Are you ready for summer? Do you enjoy exercising?

Friday Review: Never Have Dry Lips Again

Lip balm was something I used religiously as a teenager. During classes at school, I would apply it every 15 minutes then check my lips out using my pocket mirror to make sure they were looking luscious. Lip balm was great, it was affordable, came in a variety of delicious flavours and small enough to fit into your dress pocket. When I finished school and got myself a real full time job, I wanted to be an adult and use what the big kids use. I said a tearful goodbye to $3.50 lip balm and said ‘hello’ to luxury cosmetics.

Ten years later, I’m at the chemist walking down every aisle trying to find a particular lip balm for a friend when something coral and aqua caught my eye.  I do fall for pretty packaging and I love the colour combinations of Maybelline ‘Baby Lips’ lip balm.  The coral and aqua coloured lip balm was lychee flavoured and since I’m a huge lychee lover, this lip balm was definitely coming home with me.

photo

The good thing about the lychee smell is that it’s not overpowering, the bad thing is the smell doesn’t last long.  It has no taste and applies on clear.  As soon as you apply Maybelline’s ‘Baby Lips’ lip balm, your lips feel soft, supple and look plump.  I couldn’t believe this lip balm made my lips look bigger!  Finding a product that makes your lips look bigger that doesn’t involve a needle is important to some but finding a product that heals cracked lips and lasts even after food and drink, is just as important.  Lips are just a thin layer of skin and they are exposed to the weather, food, drinks and certain movements, like kissing.

I asked my friend Heba to look at the ingredients to see if what I’m putting on my lips is safe.  It has shea butter in it which is a great natural moisturiser.  Shea butter helps with skin cell regeneration and helps heal damaged skin.  It’s also the reason why my lips feel so soft and supple after I apply the lip balm.  Another ingredient is candelilla wax, it’s a natural emollient that keeps lips soft.  Maybelline’s ‘Baby Lips’ also has an ingredient called hexadecane copolymer and it helps create a film on your lips which makes the lip balm last longer and this lip balm does exactly that! Heba is personally not a fan of petrolatum unless it’s pure and certified.

You can purchase Maybelline’s ‘Baby Lips’ from any supermarket and chemist.  Whether you’re a teenager or an adult I highly recommend this lip balm.

Have you tried this lip balm? Do you use Maybelline products? Do you like lip balms?

iCurvy’s September SPIN the PIN

Jo from iCurvy has taken this pin from They All Hate Us for this month’s challenge.  What I do is put my own spin to it, using my style but inspiration from the pin.  This pin shows two ladies looking hot and feminine wearing denim on denim.  I love chambray and light denim especially in warmer weather.  The leopard, stripes, scarf and heels really gives it that modern chic look.

Here is my comfortable but still chic spin.

September Spin the pin

The jacket was a gift but here is a similar one // Chambray dress is last seasons from Mix Apparel but here is a similar one from Mix Apparel // You can buy these Tory Burch thongs here // Necklace was from eBay here is a similar one from The Adorn Collective

Firstly I want to apologize about the picture quality this photo was taken as the sun was setting.  I went for more of a comfortable approach opting for thongs over heels, I live in Australia so thongs are totally acceptable.  These thongs have a leather strap and gold detail so they are still quite feminine.  I love tan and denim they go together like strawberries and chocolate.  To brake up the denim on denim and to add some sparkle to the outfit and also because I love some bling I’ve added a statement piece which I got from eBay a few years ago.  This chambray dress is really comfortable and practical to wear and it’s right on trend this season.  Denim jackets are a classic, who hasn’t owned a denim jacket in their life?  This one came all the way from Spain.

What would be your spin on this pin?

Outfits For Spring

Yesterday was the first day of spring. Spring is my favourite season cause its not too cold and not too hot, the perfect balance.  When I think of spring I think of flowers, Melbourne Cup, butterflies, weddings and radiant sunshine.  It’s a busy time on the social calendar with the races, weddings, formals, birthdays (does anybody else have a lot of birthdays coming up?) or for a night out and I’ve found the perfect outfit that will make you stand out from the crowd.

I browsed three stores that I know and love to find these outfits from Myer, Review and Forever New.  Here are the outfits from Myer:

Watercolour Floral Bella Dress by Charlie Brown – $199

If spring was not a season but a dress it would be this dress.  The colours and floral print scream ‘spring’. I know a lot of people who prefer strapless dresses, I love the print and the style of this dress.  The bow is a cute finishing touch and ends just above the knee.  This dress is suitable to wear to the races, school formal or to a wedding.

Stripe Splice Fitted Dress by Jane Lamerton – $159

One of my very first work tops was by Jane Lamerton so, you could say we go way back. I love stripes and geometric shapes which is a trend at the moment so no surprise I love this dress.  The splash of green gives it that spring, calming feel.  You can wear this to a corporate function, christening or for a nice dinner.

Indigo Jumpsuit by Seduce – $239.95

For all the ladies who love jumpsuits this one is for you.  I love navy, I love the detail of this jumpsuit and it’s different from others I have seen before.  It’s sleek, chic and sophisticated.  You could wear this jumpsuit to a corporate function or wedding, literally anywhere as it’s versatile.

Here are my picks from Review.

Rouge Poppy Dress – $289.99

This vintage style dress is definitely one you could wear at the races.  With a beautiful floral pattern and a splash of red, what a great bright colour.  If you want to show off your curves this dress is for you.  You could wear it to just about any event.

re16dr108_remul001_1_1

Margarita Dress – $289.99

I love the name of this dress.  Yes it’s another navy dress but I couldn’t help myself.  This strapless dress is timeless and feminine with the lace detail and swish skirt.  Any girl going to the formal would look beautiful in this dress but you could wear it to any special event.

re16dr047_renvy001_1_2

Catalina Dress – $279.99

This is the last floral dress I promise but it is spring after all.  Navy and white is such a classic combination and adding the little green detail is just divine. This dress isn’t as formal so you could probably get more wear out of it as you can dress it up or down.

re16dr090_remul001_1_3

The below dresses are from Forever New – If you hate colour and prefer black the next two dresses are for you.

Phillipa V-neck Lace Swing Dress – $159.99

I’ve added a couple of black dresses because black is a classic, an old favourite for some but essential for any woman’s wardrobe.  I love a v neckline and I can’t go past lace I love it.  It is similar to the Margarita dress but it has a small sleeve.  You have so many options of what colour shoes you can wear with black which makes life just that little bit easier.

23164601

Avery Cross Front High-Low Maxi Dress  – $99.99

For those of you who have beautiful long legs (I’m so jealous and I hate you ) this dress is for you.  I like this style of dress.  I like the sheer bottom, the belt that adds some class and gives you a more defined waistline and the v neckline. This dress was made to attend a party and with you in it.

If you purchase any of the above, I would love to see a picture of you wearing it, just tag notsopeachie #notsopeachie.

So readers, do you love spring? Do you have a lot of events on in the next three months? Do you love bright colours and floral print as much as I do?

Necklace Inspiration

My cousin Radha purchased three necklaces and asked me if I could tell her what to wear with each of them.  My mum asks me the same question every time she buys a necklace too so I thought why not do a post on it!

Accessorising is my favourite part of getting dressed.  I can’t leave my house without wearing jewelry and not feel naked.  For me jewelry completes an outfit and makes not only a plain outfit brighter but it has that effect to make us sparkle just that little bit brighter.  On Monday’s I need all the sparkle I can get!

A necklace is the perfect accessory to wear in the warmer seasons just like a scarf is in the cooler seasons.  Whether you’re a t-shirt and shorts girl or live in dresses in summer there is a necklace you probably already own which would compliment your outfit.

Go Long – With any high neck, turtle or scoop neckline.  A long necklace adds character to any plain top.  Or chose a simple less detailed long necklace for a more sleek professional look for work.  This necklace was a gift.

Make A Statement – Don’t be afraid to make a statement.  Whether you’re wearing a high neckline, scoop neckline or turtle neck.  If you like wearing turtle necks but think it makes your chest look too big if you wear a statement necklace it breaks it up.  This necklace is from ASOS.

Don’t Settle For One – Why not try layering?  You can wear two or three it doesn’t matter as long as they are different lengths.  If you’re wearing a v neckline and want to take your cleavage out of the firing line I think this is a good way of splitting the focus.  The Love necklace is from Michael Hill and the heart necklace is from Tiffany.

Go Cheerful – This necklace from mondayproject_ screams fun! The balls are the right size to be seen without getting lost.  This necklace comes in many wonderful colours and if your on Instagram you can purchase one from mondayproject_.  Support Australian businesses.

Shine Bright Like A Diamond – This tunic was looking quite dull till I added this piece.  You might think there is already a lot going on with the tunic; collar and pockets but this piece adds the shine factor.  Blush & Co is another Australian company that makes beautiful necklaces, you will want to purchase them all.

So readers, who loves wearing necklaces? What style of necklace do you like?

Trying To Find Balance

At school, I was the type of person who struggled with time management and always left school assignments to the last minute.  I was so good at procrastinating, that I tried to find a career where procrastinating was a skill requirement.  As I’ve gotten older I’ve had to learn to be more organised, so that I don’t stress out and let things get the better of me.

Anyone who has worked on a project that’s close to their heart knows the feeling of relief and joy when you finally cross the finishing line months later than you had anticipated.  I created a new blog and started from scratch again – a fresh start and a new direction.

The blog is the first thing I have accomplished for myself … by myself.  I am proud of what I have created, it gives me a feeling of accomplishment.  Naturally I want it to blossom and grow.  Nothing blossoms and grows without constant TLC.  There are quite a few elements of blogging; of course there’s the writing, photography, social, networking and the dreaded technical side.  All these elements need time, with trial and error.

Last week was a bad week for me on the technical front.  One of my pages got hacked which I only discovered because my friend had pointed out. My email subscription and comments weren’t working (which might have been my fault for fiddling around with things but we won’t tell the IT guy that).  The guy uninstalled my spam plugin so now I have 1000 pending spam comments.  I was ready to loose my shit.  The problems just got worse as the week went on. I’m an impatient person I want things fixed straight away. I’m not a reasonable calm person when I’m stressed.  Even Oprah can’t save me when I’m in that state of mind.

When I wasn’t drowning with technical issues, I was absorbed in Twitter, reading tweets from the pro blogger event.  So it wasn’t a surprise when I got into trouble for being constantly on my phone and not paying attention.

It was true my mind was elsewhere.  Does anyone else struggle to shut off their mind?

I knew I could either do two things.  I could hide away from the rest of the world with my phone and laptop and be left to deal with my problems and get a lot of stuff done and probably eventually end up lonely.  Or I can try and manage my time better so that when I’m out I’m not worrying about the tasks at hand or thinking about ideas of what to write.  I know I need to find a balance so I don’t become more mental than I already am.  The silver lining of last week was being approached to become brand ambassador (super exciting can’t wait to show you their stuff) but half of the fun of receiving exciting news is being able to share it with someone else.

So readers, do you struggle with time management?

Maid Of Honour…..I Got This!

<a href=”http://www.bloglovin.com/blog/14356911/?claim=rn655qyuqq7″>Follow my blog with Bloglovin</a>

When my friend from school asked me to be her maid of honour I was so stoked.  This was going to be so much fun. I have never been a maid of honour before but I love organizing and weddings and I was confident that I could help her and make the whole experience memorable.  I think my words were, I got this!

Rachel isn’t my first friend to get married so I had a little idea of what I was getting myself in.  Brides to be change their minds about what they want frequently, just because they want something today doesn’t mean they will want it next week.  Brides to be can justify anything they want bad enough for their special day, no matter how much it is or how unobtainable it is by simply saying the famous words “How many times an I going to married? once”.  Everything for the wedding has to be perfect.  The words beautiful, elegant and perfect are used a lot.  If the bride to be doesn’t have love hearts in her eyes it’s not making the cut.

I went wedding invitation shopping with Rachel.  We walked into this shop, it was massive with walls covered in wedding invitations.  It was so overwhelming there were so many to look at.  The shop assistant said to pick out three you like and put them on the counter and I’ll give you a quote.  The first challenge was to pick three out of one hundred to chose from.  Than Rachel was informed if she buying less than a hundred invitations she can’t chose any from this wall and because she wanted to allow six weeks RSVP the invitations on this wall couldn’t be made in time.  We left the store hating all of them.

I love shopping, I really really do love shopping and not just clothes shopping all types of shopping.  Food shopping, shopping for socks, infusers and cactus but I’m not loving bridesmaid dress shopping.  Trying on dress after dress, dresses that have so many layers, dresses I couldn’t work out the front from the back. I tried to embrace it by having fun after all it’s not everyday I get a whole shop to myself and get offered champagne.  Normal shopping just doesn’t cut it anymore.  Its like I’ve flown first class and now have to go back to economy.

What I really disliked the most about bridesmaid shopping is I couldn’t zip up most of the dresses I tried on.  Isn’t it the worse feeling when you don’t fit into something you know you should?  It infuriated me so much that I made a vowel to myself that I would not buy anymore clothes till I lost a dress size.

I’ll keep you posted, watch this space.

So readers, do you have any advice to give me on being a bridesmaid?
